love + laughter + family + friends | desirae + taylor’s camrose hill flower farm wedding

For a lot of people, weddings are all about details. The dress, the linens, the florals and the food and the venue. And for a lot of photographers the details are paramount. It’s what “sells” a wedding. To future brides. To magazines. To the rest of the world. Desirae and Taylor’s wedding was full of incredible details at one of Minnesota’s most exquisite outdoor venues. She donned a Badgley Mischka sequined gown for her reception, and he wore a perfectly tailored navy suit. They served pizza and craft beer and sat at a beautiful table draped with spring greens and fresh, local florals. But that’s not what sticks in my mind about their wedding day. And as I sit here, a little over a week after their celebration, it’s not what I remember. Because those things, as beautiful and wonderful and part of a wedding as they are, they aren’t what...

on pine trees and ice cream| breanna + michael

Breanna and I met a few years ago when I hired her to design and brand my first official photography website. We hit it off pretty instantly and became friends during my design experience. She is responsible for this incredible site, as well, and my crazy awesome new logo and branding. Breanna is an incredible creative with exquisite taste and a killer style, and she writes an incredible column for freelance designers. Professional accolades aside, Breanna is also a beautiful soul. She is sweet, kind, honest, authentic, and has a sharp wit, though she most likely won’t admit it. She makes insanely delicious mac + cheese (which I’m still desperately waiting to sample) and every time we get together she tells me a little bit more about her love, Michael. That he takes great care of her. That he’s her favorite travel companion. That he is patient and something about his...

sunday morning rituals | the adobo fam

A few weekends ago I traveled to San Jose to document the beautiful women behind Imago Fitness and finally met Joanne in real life. We’ve been internet friends for a couple of years, but become close after she inspired me to finally believe in myself enough to embark on my own fitness journey. Joanne + her husband Jonathan happen to be phenomenal photographers, and the kind of people who steal themselves quietly into your life, slowly filling the cracks you didn’t know existed, and then burst out, effervescent and overflowing with joy. They are kind and beautiful and generous and a million other adjectives that feel trite when I roll them around in my mouth, feeling their weight on my tongue. These are the kind of people for whom words are simply not enough. While I was staying with them, Joanne mentioned that weekend mornings have become a sort of ritual...

hand lettering, imperfect art, and a free download!

For those of you who follow me in on Instagram, you know that I’ve been sharing some photos of my hand lettering work. It’s something I’ve sort of always dabbled in, and I finally decided that my insane insecurity of imperfection was, well, insane. I realized it was time to be honest about this part of me, imperfections and all, and share it with the world. Your support and encouragement has been absolutely overwhelming and I’m so thankful for your kindness. Many of you have asked if I’m going to open a print shop, and the truth is that I don’t think I will at this time. Right now hand lettering is my creative outlet, it’s something I do to de-stress (since I’m not currently drinking wine and don’t have time to quilt or sew) and I’m not ready for that to change quite yet. But don’t worry, I’ll still...
