I met Jenna what seems like forever ago…but I know for certain it was about a year ago. We were netroduced (that’s introduced via the internet. See what I did there?) through her friend Brit, and their shared blog A Northwoods Wedding, and we became fast friends. We finally – FINALLY – met in person on Thursday and we barely stopped talking long enough to snap these few frames. It was as though we’ve known each other our whole lives..well, her whole life (one of us is considerably older. cough cough.) The hour was too short, and the time far too fleeting, but I have a sneaking suspicion we’ll be seeing each other again soon – or, at the very least – on my next trip to Madison. Here are a few shots I took of her, and just for kicks – a few she shot of me....

casting call | the beauty collective
It’s my favorite time of the year – the earth is readying itself for winter’s embrace. Dark, grey clouds rush across a cold autumn sky as the trees shake free their final leaves. Most people think it’s sort of ugly outside – but where others see brown, dead landscapes – I see beauty. Which is why I’m looking to shoot another installment of my Beauty Collective. This is a project about women – about beauty and acceptance – and about love. The only requirement to be a participant in the Collective is the willingness to open yourself up against your own criticism and see yourself in a new way. I’m looking for approximately 8-10 women for this installment, and the shoot will take place on Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon (in the Twin Cities metro area). Seven days. 168 hours. One daylight savings change. Four Airplanes. Two Pools. More queso blanco than I can measure. A case of Sol. 6 Sunsets. Hundreds of bug bites. One perfect chicken tostada. Two Tamales with the most amazing Mole I’ve ever tasted. 600 photographs. 10,800 minutes with my girls, my amazing husband, and the warm, humid, salty Mexican breeze.
