It’s that time of year again — time for me to reflect on all that’s happened over the past twelve months. I’ve been dreading this post, actually. Which probably seems odd. But it means that this year is over. That it’s gone, folded into the pages of memory, and I’m not quite ready to let it go just yet. It was incredibly perfect. Everything I’ve been dreaming of since I launched this humble endeavor, and decided, once and for all to chase headlong into the chasm of dreaming-so-big-it’s-scary. This year has been – has meant – everything. But much to my chagrin, and despite my resistance, the year is coming to a close. So it’s time to savor each and every moment I was able to spend with all of you. A walk down the aisle. A new baby. Friendship. Family. Joy. Your stories are my why, and every single time...
love is an awesomely fun and beautiful and heart-exploding celebration in the woods. love is danielle + terry’s juliane james place wedding
A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of venturing into the northwoods of Minnesota (huge shout out to my girl Kelsea for second shooting), to document a pretty-little summer wedding. I first met Danielle + Terry over coffee this last winter, and it was love-at-first-joke. Danielle + Terry are two of the wildest, weirdest and wonderful-est people I’ve ever met. I’ve never been around two people more in love with or committed to making the other laugh, and their wedding at Juliane James Place was a testament to their awkwardness, humor, and flawless style. From the painstakingly crafted paper flowers to the costumed and choreographed first dance, the pie – pizza and dessert! – to the handmade invitation suite (Danielle made them!), their wedding was beyond beautiful. But this wedding was so much more than the pretty stuff. The editorial details. The paper and the cocktails and the china. This wedding was honest and...
love is autumn overtaking summer in an old mill in central wisconsin. love is lefse and cheese and henna and saris. love is chitra and ben’s wedding story.
Chitra and Ben were married in central Wisconsin under sunny summer skies and cool autumn breezes. Their wedding was the perfect representation of each of them, from the lefse and beer and Wisconsin cheese plate to the Achaar (made by the couple’s incredible Indian condiments company, Brooklyn Delhi) and curried chickpeas and guests adorned with henna. Their wedding day was filled to bursting with culture and heritage and history. A perfect fusion of seasons. Of lives. Of two different stories – two different pasts – seamlessly merging into one new story as rich and intricate as the weaving on Chitra’s bridal sari. Here are a few favorites from their wedding day: ...
miki + kristel’s beautiful and profound and wonderfully intimate bar lurcat wedding
Miki + Kristel emailed me earlier this summer, asking about my availability, wondering if I was able to document their intimate little wedding in Minneapolis. They were set to get married on the rooftop of their apartment building in Uptown, and then head to dinner at Bar Lurcat. The event would be small, they said, sixty people total, and was all about family. Love. Joy. The instant I met them I knew theirs was a story I was destined to tell. They love Mexico and graffiti and the smell of old books. They celebrate the tedium of every day and take nothing for granted. They are two of the most authentic and amazing individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are kindred souls, to me, to each other, to each beautiful person they come in contact with. You can feel it in their presence. It’s remarkable, honestly. Moving. Humbling. Miki’s best...
