I’ll be sharing a slew of photographs from my trip to New York as soon as I get my film back – but I couldn’t wait to post a few images of my friend Tahni. As beautiful as she is talented, kind, generous, and funny, this girl showed me an amazing time in BedStuy, Brooklyn over the weekend. New York is a giant city – and my first time was slightly overwhelming, but I cannot wait to get back and see more of Tahni, and what the city has to offer. Just before I headed to JFK yesterday, Tahni and I headed onto her rooftop for an impromptu photo shoot. It was a perfectly cold and rainy New York morning, and Tahni looked divine in her (new!) vintage sequin dress. This – this life, this energy, these kinds of friendships – is what I live for. For this life –...

pay it forward friday | the winner
Hello lovelies, and greetings from New York (Brooklyn, technically). This week I was inspired by a good friend of mine who has a habit she calls “Pay it forward Friday” in which she finds some way, however big or small, to pay it forward to someone. It started in her waitressing days, and she’d anonymously pick up the tab for one table. As she is no longer a server, her generosity manifests itself in other ways now; paying for the car behind her at a drive thru, donating money to a charity on payday, helping someone in need. When she was telling me about her philanthropy, I couldn’t help but become inspired to start my own Pay It Forward Friday. I don’t know that I can commit to every Friday, but I’m going to try. Really hard. I am going to make the promise that it will be *at least*...
jeanine + ryan | eight years later
They’ve been together eight years already. They’ve grown up alongside one another, gone through life changes together, and endured so much. Through it all their love has deepened. Strengthened. Grown exponentially larger and more robust. It filled their wedding day. Encompassed us all and it was magnificent. Jeanine and Ryan are especially kind and giving, and the moment I met them I felt like I was a part of their family. They trusted me wholly, and to a photographer, that really does make all the difference. Jeanine sat down, in a thicket of tall grass and brush (and her dress didn’t have a single speck of dirt on it – because I’m impeccably careful!) and because she trusted me, and my vision, we were able to create some of my favorite bridal portraits ever. As my last wedding of the year, for me this day was bittersweet. I’m so thankful...
my favorite things | a giveaway
Happy Monday friends! First and foremost I want to announce the winner of last week’s giveaway………..Kristen F! Yay!! You have 48 hours to shoot me an email Kristen, and we’ll chat specifics! And now, on to the some more exciting news… Today finds Minnesconsin buried in snow, and I have to admit, it is completely wonderful. I am a huge fan of winter – though I do believe it overstays its welcome every year. There is just something so cozy about a good, hearty, blanketing snow storm. Unfortunately, especially for my southern and west coast friends, I can’t give away snow. Even though it really is one of my favorite things. But I can give away a bunch of other stuff that makes my world go round. And hopefully gets you a little excited, too! (Sorry, guys – if I have any guy readers – but this giveaway is horribly...
