A few weekends ago I traveled to San Jose to document the beautiful women behind Imago Fitness and finally met Joanne in real life. We’ve been internet friends for a couple of years, but become close after she inspired me to finally believe in myself enough to embark on my own fitness journey. Joanne + her husband Jonathan happen to be phenomenal photographers, and the kind of people who steal themselves quietly into your life, slowly filling the cracks you didn’t know existed, and then burst out, effervescent and overflowing with joy. They are kind and beautiful and generous and a million other adjectives that feel trite when I roll them around in my mouth, feeling their weight on my tongue. These are the kind of people for whom words are simply not enough. While I was staying with them, Joanne mentioned that weekend mornings have become a sort of ritual...
five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes | colie may
A year ago, almost to the minute, I was driving home from the hospital after documenting the birth of this beautiful, sweet little girl. Colie May came into the world and countless hearts grew exponentially bigger. Colie’s parents are dear friends of mine, and being invited to document them as they welcomed this precious girl into the world is a gift I’ll never be able to repay. So instead, I’ll focus my energy on documenting this sweet girl’s life as much, and as often, as I possibly can. Here are a few images from our most recent session: Happy first birthday Sweet Pea. I’m so excited to watch what this next year has in store for you. xo ...
in pictures | the incredible year that was 2013.
I don’t know that I’m ready to summarize this past year in words. I don’t know that I’ve quite found the right ones just yet, and to be honest, I’m not certain I ever will. I have exponentially more favorites than I could ever share in one blog post, so here are a few of the ones that stood out to me – in no particular order (and not including any iPhone or instagram photos.) It’s hard to believe that each one of these stories happened this year. Some feel as though they occurred ages ago, and others, still only just yesterday. But what I do know for sure is that every single person in these photographs – and so many more that aren’t pictured here – have completely and...
Adventures in Film | The Gipsons
It’s usually easy for me to find words to accompany a blog post, but tonight I’m at a loss. I can’t seem to find the phrasing. The prose. The words that, when strung together perfectly, would accurately summarize my meeting Suzanne, our time together in Colorado, and the weekend I spent with her family in Ohio. They aren’t coming to me. I can tell you that Suzanne is an incredibly talented photographer and has a quiet happiness about her. That her husband Brant is a wonderful musician and has a perfect sense of humor. That their home is filled with magic. I can tell you about about their two children and the joy with which they embrace each day. And I can tell you that both of them, a mess of lovely hair and big eyes, greeted me with cautious welcome, excited curiosity and shy laughter. Which was absolutely and...
