Once upon a time I wanted to be a writer. I still do, and probably always will. I’m a story-teller to the core, and it makes sense that through a series of events – whose purpose was unclear to me at the time – I chose the camera as my paper and people as my pen. Through photography I am able to write stories – to take a collection of moments and string them together to create a perfect semblance of a whole. A story told with emotion, and spirit – and most of all love -without the use of a single word.

I love that about photography. So very much.

What I also love about this craft is it’s ability to expose my soul – the way it uncovered the things that radiate within me and set my spirit on fire. Life. Love. Beauty. Authenticity. Emotion. People. Most of all, women, being exactly who they are, without hesitation or apology. Brazen. Wild. Real.

Women who step in front of my camera, wearing their insecurity like an invisible veil, wrapped around their shoulders, hanging delicately over their collarbones. Who after a few moments shed their fear, their predispositions and expectations, and surrender to the moment. Women who allow me to capture the very essence of who they are by stepping in front of my camera and becoming – for even the faintest flicker of a moment – who they were always meant to be.

Evenings like the one I spent with Brynn are tops on my list of favorite things.

I met Brynn Andre through a cube-farm co-worker (and friend of mine) and instantly adored her. She has a softness about her, a quiet gentleness, yet is remarkably spirited and full of life. Brynn is an extremely talented singer/songwriter and  when she asked if I could capture a few images for an upcoming collaboration she’s doing with a new (local!) arts magazine, I simply couldn’t refuse. Having this girl in front of my camera wasn’t work – it was absolute magic, and I cannot wait to do it again.
