Engagement sessions are my favorite. It’s such a great way to get to know my clients (and turn them into my friends!) and get them acclimated to what it’s like in front of my lens. It also gives me a bit of insight into their day-to-day life. The bones of their story. You see, if you know anything about me by now, it’s that I wholeheartedly believe that your story isn’t about the wedding, but rather about the marriage. About who you became before you met, who you’re still becoming, and who you’re yet to be. Marriage isn’t a fairy tale, but it is still your story. Letting me into to pieces of it before your wedding day means I can tell it a little bit more authentically. And straight from my heart. love + laughter + family + friends | desirae + taylor’s camrose hill flower farm wedding
For a lot of people, weddings are all about details. The dress, the linens, the florals and the food and the venue. And for a lot of photographers the details are paramount. And as I sit here, a little over a week after their celebration, it’s not what I remember. Because those things, as beautiful and wonderful and part of a wedding as they are, they aren’t what...
on pine trees and ice cream| breanna + michael
Breanna and I met a few years ago when I hired her to design and brand my first official photography website. We hit it off pretty instantly and became friends during my design experience. She is responsible for this incredible site, as well, and my crazy awesome new logo and branding. Breanna is an incredible creative with exquisite taste and a killer style, and she writes an incredible column for freelance designers. Professional accolades aside, Breanna is also a beautiful soul. She is sweet, kind, honest, authentic, and has a sharp wit, though she most likely won’t admit it. She makes insanely delicious mac + cheese (which I’m still desperately waiting to sample) and every time we get together she tells me a little bit more about her love, Michael. That he takes great care of her. That he’s her favorite travel companion. That he is patient and something about his...
